KAMPALA- The army yesterday promoted at least 700 officers, including the Ssabanyala, Lt Baker Kimeze, who has been promoted to the rank of major and retired.
The army also retired Brig Bernard Rwehururu and Maj Gen Benon Biraaro who has shown interest to stand for President in 2016.

Brig Dick Olum, the commander of the Ugandan contingent in Somalia, has been confirmed a brigadier, and so is Brig Mathew Gureme.
Army spokesperson Paddy Ankunda dismissed claims that some officers, especially those who did Cadet Course intake four, five and six have not been promoted yet those who joined the army later, have got rapid promotions.
